How can I make money on Facebook?

I see all these Facebook pages with tens of thousands of fans. How do they get so many fans and how do they make money once they get all those fans? I think this is something I'd like to do, but i don't understand how it's done. Does anyone know how they create the large following and then how they convert that into money?

They definitely get likes through advertising on facebook. But there are lots of ways to get lots of likes for free. Creating your own fan page is half the battle in making money on facebook, liking other pages gets you updates about what other pages post. Sharing and commenting on those posts as your fan page will get you on the radar. Providing free giveaways (like free ebooks) on your fan page also works on the long run. Last will be always be posting fresh and engaging topics on you fan page wall.

One way to get lots of fans is to set up ads on Facebook to increase page likes. This is currently really cheap and can work out as little as $0.17 per like and you can get it really targeted to only encourage likes from those who are likely to make you money in the future!

Like others already have said - advertising on FB is the easiest way to get lots of likes. Even though it does cost you a bit, you'll get the money back later on. There are services that allows you to buy likes, but that's really dumb since likes itself won't generate money. You want people to like your site because they really do, and are likely to buy from you.

As other contributors have suggested, paid advertising is a good way to go with FB. One of the advantages that FB has over other forms, is that if you advertise to your fan page you will get 'likes' that will keep delivering traffic for you even if you cease your advertising spend. - compares very well with other paid forms where the return lasts only as long as the spend.

There are like exchange websites such as addmefast or likenation (can't post links here) but they allow you to earn points for liking other people's content and in return you exchange those points for likes on your content.

I recommend using a separate profile to obtain the points as Facebook will see your profile as a little suspicious if you are liking 100's of pages at once.

This is not only a great way to get your page in front of people but these new likes will give the illusion that you have content worth liking and will create a snowball effect (so long as you have decent content).

Once you have a fan base, then you can monetize.

I mean with likes on fb, you can then advertise things through those likes and fan pages.
I know a lot of fan pages brings like currently events or even live streams which sponsor will pay you if you have a lot of traffic

Number of likes doesn't necessarily mean an income. You can buy a bunch of fake likes but they won't do you any good and will actually only lower your reach and engagement. On the other hand, you can promote your posts to a specific targeted audience and hope people will recognize it as something of their interest.

Yeah like some people have said getting more likes to your page is one way to get more traffic and money. I also suggest joining groups related to what you are promoting or selling. This also get a lot of views. I use this to promote my blogs and it makes me some nice money indeed.

Even though facebook is annoying and mostly useless it can be used to make some money at the same time.
