  • 2009 Financial Goal Met

My 2009 financial goal was to pay off $11,000 in consumer loans and save 3 month's EF.
As of today, these goals have been met.
I even have two weeks to spare. :-)
There's a long, long way to go before I'm debt free, but this is a good start.
Has anyone out there met their 2009 goals?

You can do it, too. Just make a plan to send in extra money! Good luck.

Congrats, it makes my day when anyone meets their financial goals. To many just turn a blind eye thinking there will be plenty of time in the future to fix what they have damaged.

Keep with it, you will reach all your goals if you believe you can,

                  Congrats, that's awesome!!!

Our 2009 goal was to have $20k in savings, IRA, and 401k (combined). We shattered that goal (which was pretty aggressive to begin with) in November. We've been splurging a bit since then.

                    Congratulations!

I have reached my financial goal this year, and then some. I am going to sit down with hubby soon and pencil out a plan for the next year.

My 2009 was to have a budget I could consistently stick to and which included not using credit. (unless new charges were paid at the end of the month)
                      I achieved it since August!
Currently I have a debt erradication plan that takes me to Oct 2010.

                        Great Job.

Yes I meet my 2009 goals and can't wait to start on my 2010 goals.

The only financial goal I missed was one set Jan. 1, 2008, to be free of credit-card and personal-loan debt by Dec. 31, 2009. I started with over $70K and I'm going to come up short; I'll have just under $17K of that debt still with me on Dec. 31. However, I moved my goal out another year and have high hopes of getting rid of the final $17K by Dec. 31, 2010!

I became debt free not by planning like a smart person, but sort of by accident in about 2003. Ford was offering a 0.9% 3-year loan on new Mustangs in 2000, so I went for it. Well, that 3 years rolled around pretty quick, and the next thing I knew I had paid it off. Of course, being your normal in-debt American I immediately began wondering what I would spend this "extra" 450 bucks a month on. It had to be something, right?? God forbid I just leave it in my account! Well, I kind of unintentionally dragged my heels looking around, mainly because I was pretty darn happy with the Mustang, and may have just been too busy at work at the time. So, the next thing I knew 3 or 4 months had gone by before I even realized ... Then the light bulb came on: "Holy cow, my checking account actually has some money in it!! Like, extra money! A cushion! Wow, this feels pretty good! I don't actually have to buy something just because I have some money!!" Apparently not paying 450 bucks a month for a car leaves you with money to spare!

So, I've been continuing to live debt-free since '03, and let me say, it ain't bad!

I should say that I built my own house, so my only mortgage ever was very small and short-lived. My debt problem was entirely my love a new cars ... And man am I over that now

Edit: And, the real kicker, I can now show off instead by donating fairly big bucks to the CF foundation (my niece has it). That's got to be the best thing of all.
