  • Will you get a raise this year?

For non-self-employed members, I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on if they will receive a raise this year, or if the concensus is that it will be a reduced amount.

I read on another post the average raise is ~3%, which to me is really just an inflation adjustment. What percentage was your last raise, and what do you predict for the next one?

My DH is up for a promotion at his job. We will find out if it will include a raise. He did get a little over 3% COLA raise in January.

Well after 3 1/2 years, my company's union finally agreed on a new contract this past November so everyone recieved a nice sized raise, and 3 years retroactive this past month. I'm very fortunate, and lucky to have been hired just around the time that past contract expired so I was eligible for all the perks of the new contract.

btw I work for the government.

In another month, I'll also be eligible for a much needed promotion. Hopefully, I'll be offered this promotion at my current job, if they don't, then I'll be applying else where. I refuse to stay stagnant.

I actually already did, but if you mean next year, I am not sure I will. I have been getting large raises because my value as a paralegal is still going up with each passing year. Not sure how long that will last but I am still on the upward trend. I think if my employer can afford it, I will still get a raise next year. Just depends on business.

No raises this year, along with the 401k match being suspended, no bonuses, and I think that's about it for benefits cut so far. We weren't on track to qualify for bonuses as a company anyways, no where close to the goals they set early 2008. I'm not complaining about any of that...

Contractually, I'm guaranteed a raise this year but the future isn't bright in coming years. The inflation that the porkulus bill will generate is going to make it even worse with no raises.

My salary is still being decided by the state legislature. I may go up, stay the same, or take a pay cut. My bets are on the pay cut.

Yes. I just got a 2% raise (lowest ever).

I have gotten pretty substantial raises in recent years as I have climbed up the ladder. I seem to be leveling out on the top, on one hand. On the other hand, the economy seems to have put a bit of a damper on things, though so far we haven't been affected much. Then again, my field is still extremely competitive, so I still can't quite imagine a year passing with absolutely no raise. But this year was less than expected, for sure.

Just a lot of factors at play.

My mom works for a very profitable specialty medical practice. They had no losses last year and did well. The raises were tiny b/c they are "anticipating" possiblly not doing as well next year. nice to not get a good raise b/c of possible future performance.

sheesh, my freind at walmart sd she isn't getting a raise.

Yes,I have a 2% raise that goes in effect in April due to a union contract. After that, I do not expect to see a raise in our next 3 year contract.

I am hoping to get a big raise at the end of this month. I will be with my firm for a year at the beginning of March and I know that I was brought in at the low end of the scale to see how I would perform. I am expecting a $10,000.00 but would be happy with $5,000.00.

No raise for either of us. Although apparently DH gets a larger bonus by 4% for COLA. That's his raise, so they don't guarantee a higher salary.
