  • OMG What experience should I get as a business finance career?

I looked through a few job descriptions and noticed that alot of Financial analyst position ask for totally different types of certifications and experience. What is the most average job experience I should get while going after a career in business finance.

My goal is to start off as a financial analyst and then either become an investment banker or move on into starting my own firm.

financial analysts are usually going through the corporate root (CFO). An Investmenty banker is a totally different field and the easiest way is to be in the top of your class at a top MBA program. Your degree could be quanitative finance. It is one of the most sought after jobs by MBAs.

Could you also explain "career in business finance" because financial analysts and investment bankers are very different. One is a 50k job and the other is about 1 million. Wouls you also be looking at credit analyst, quant analyst, qualitative analyst....buy side or sell side?

Financial planners & financial advisors are all financial analysts. But the role of an advisor & a planner is different. Again, business finance is a vast area.

      Plz be specific!
