  • Do You Dare Go Short on the Stock Market?

I like short as much as I like long. Short is especially going to be key this year after great run the past 2 years. If you notice, the Dow seems to be tired from the climb the past 2 years and when it recedes, there's money to be earned in shorts.

There will always be stocks that gain and lose no matter what the overall stock market is doing. My guess is that you aren't going to be shorting the entire stock market, which means you'll still have to do your market research just as thoroughly as if you were looking for stocks that were going to gain. I don't necessarily buy your premise that a huge correction is going to take place in the near future.

I don't short it outright unless I want it to keep going up. Seems whichever bet I have ever made on short vs. long options, the underlying equity does exactly the opposite. So I have stopped doing that.

If a big crash does come, I have quite a bit of liquid assets sitting around I could use to buy the dip. If it happens around bonus time, I would have a lot of cash to dump into a down market.

Just because the market goes up doesn't mean it will stop going up in the near future.

Like already said, research shorts just as much as you would longs. Good luck.
