  • Amboy Direct bonus

I read that the $25 bonus for being refered to Amboy Direct is given only when you have an ADB of $3000 for 90 days. Does this mean that I have to transfer $3000 into the account right when I open it, and keep it there for 90 days OR does it mean that I can start with say $1000, then add another $2000 in the next two months...THEN keep that $3000 in there for 90 days?

Does my question make sense? lol

You'd have to open the account with $3000 and then keep it in for the 90 days.

According to Amboy (back in October) you can open the account with $1 but you will not get the bonus unless/until you deposit a total of $3,000 and keep an ADB of $3,000 for at least 90 days duration. If you open the account with less than $3,000, I believe you have 30 days to deposit more.

I'd send the message you've posted here to Amboy's customer service e-mail. That way, you could be certain.

I think I'm just going to go ahead and open the amboy account. I doubt I'll have 3k to invest in 30 days, that money is better spent paying my cc bill. Probably just going to start off with $500, and then put in $500 a month or so.

Is there a reason you are going with Amboy Direct instead of a higher interest online bank? Amboy only offers 1% APY interest on balances from $300-$2,999, and only 4.28% APY interest on balances over $3,000.

Emigrant Direct currently offers 5.05% APY.

HSBC Direct offers 6% APY until April 30th, and 5.05% APY after that.

            ING Direct offers 4.5% APY.

bankrate.com also has some better options than Amboy Direct.

              The previous post is incorrect.

Amboy Direct offers a Premium Savings with an APY of 5.25%.

Ooops, sorry about the mistake in APY, I just went to their website, and that is what it said on the front page, so that's what I went with.

                Have fun saving.

They've got several different versions with unadvertised links. I can hand out those referals too!
