Last year I bought a new car and I emailed 10 dealerships and asked for their best out the door price for the specific model I wanted. I made it clear if they responded with anything but what I requested they would remove themselves from competition for my business and wouldn't hear back from me.
Half said to come in before they would give the out the door price and half gave their best price. I went with the lowest which was significantly below the other offers and it didn't take long at the dealership to have everything paid, signed and completed.
I created a separate email account for this activity and the ones that couldn't follow instructions kept emailing me for several months.
