  • why are very old threads coming up? and white screen is back

I noticed some really old threads, one is from 2004! It seems kind of odd.

also, is anyone getting that white screen after posting and you have to refresh the page? that was gone for a while

Aren't the old threads being dredged up by a single new poster who is posting quickie blurbs to them all as fast as s/he can? I always figure they are doing that to get passed the minimum post limit before they start making slimy commercial links.

All threads are fair game to reply to.

But, I'm not sure why the spammers gravitate to them to get their post counts up.

I'll just end up deleting their posts anyway if they start spamming, so it will be a temporary annoyance.

I haven't noticed the white screen.

I agree with all of this. For some reason that I'm not aware of, spammers target dead threads. The best advice I can give everyone is that when a thread pops up, before replying, check how old it is. If it was just dredged up by a spammer, ignore it. Don't respond.

I haven't seen the white screen either.
