  • Grocery bill

We have a family of 5. 3 teenage boys who are very active in sports and my husband and I.. How much should a moderate food budget be for a month? We pack lunches everyday for school.

are you seeing your dollars purchasing less? are your regular weekly groceries not making it through the week? i know 2 teenaged boys can eat a lot. im just curious because i see inflation getting out of control, have you priced peanut butter lately?

as for your Q, sorry to be no help.

How much are you spending per month currently?

      Where do you shop?

What sort of things do you typically buy?

      Do you use coupons?

The answer is too difficult to answer without more information like bjl584 said.

        A few other factors include:

        1) What area of the US you live in terms of relative cost of living

        2) If you've already saving appropriately for your emergency fund, are appropriately saving for retirement, children's education, etc.

        3) Do you eat out a lot or is your food budget mostly used exclusively for groceries

USDA Food Plans: Cost of Food Cost of Food at Home

The above link is from the department of agriculture and provides a variety of costs to feed different sizes families on different budgets. I believe they also have some other pages that discuss more specific menu types and the cost associated.
