I'm looking for members that would be willing to take part in this 52 week challenge. Even if you don't need to take the challenge, it would be great for you to participate as well. What I would like is to have a core group of about 10+ members here doing it as the foundation so that others feel comfortable joining as well, and most importantly, they have a support group. I think that's what is usually missing from these challenges -- everyone starts wit the best intentions, but when they hit an obstacle, they don't have the support to get through that and give up. This group could help a lot of people that way. It would also be a great opportunity to talk about the little things we cam all do on a weekly basis to save a little bit more money. If there is enough interest to get 10 or so of you to commit, then I will go ahead and make a new forum for it and begin promoting it in other ways. If not, then I'll let it be as it is.

That looks kinda fun.
I have an old account at a credit union that I don't use much anymore. That might serve as the perfect place to park some saved money from this challenge.
One question,
Are we required to save exactly $1300 over the course of the year, or can we save more?Brian

I just joined the forum specifically for this challenge. I want to join! I hope that others will participate. I love the idea and I want to try, but I know I will need support to actually do it. Form past experience, I fold when it gets difficult so a place where i could come each week to get motivation would be great! I hope that there are 10 others that will do this as well.

Not 10 members signed on, but I think I will create the area and those that have expressed interest can help others that come along. I think it's a great way for people needing to build an emergency fund to start that project. All those willing to participate, thank you. I know that through your insights, you'll be able to help a lot of others.

I'll participate
I had seen several posts on various blogs about the Yahtzee challenge and the 52 week challenge. I appreciate the link in Jeffrey's post to the original post, so now I have a printout to use for this. I've decided to save my coupon/on-sale grocery savings each week to a savings account we had almost emptied back when my husband got laid off. We have an emergency fund account, so this can be a back up fund. This week I've saved $34.81, so I'll round that to $35 and move it to that account. Makes me love telephone banking even more.

OK -- we have the section up here plus a few threads for those that have already started the challenge. This is an area for you to share your experience about the challenge and to help those that are participating as well. Feel free to create any topics that you feel will be helpful to others or yourself and feel free to encourage others to join. It would be a great way for anyone needing an emergency fund to start building it.
