For probably about 3 - 4 months now we've been having a malfunctioning auto-dialer calling our home. It comes up 'Private' on the caller ID and whenever we answer, we get nothing but silence and then disconnect. Every time. I tried many times the first month or so it was calling to answer it just so I could find out who it was and get them to stop. For the last few months we just let the machine get it, hoping that sooner or later the calls will stop but they haven't - its called 3 times today so far.
We can't set up *82 as my aged father has his number blocked and its way too much for him to remember to do *82 when he calls. As it is, he loses our phone #'s every couple of years and I've had the same number for 12 years now.
We've called the phone company about this and they say that the only thing we can do is have all private calls blocked.
