  • Debt Free!

I just need to brag a little. I mailed in a cashier's check for the balance of my car loan yesterday (paying off a 5-year loan after 2.5 years), and as soon as they post it against my loan balance, I'll be debt-free! And I turn 30 next Friday, so debt-free by 30!

This is a big achievement for me; though I've never been in out-of-control credit card debt or anything, I have always carried SOME form of debt, be it student loans, credit card, or auto loan, since I was about 18 or 19. And now I'm finally free! (Until I have enough for a downpayment on a house and go get a mortgage, that is.)

Congrats!! It is a great feeling isn't it?

I remember the relief I felt and I see so many people around me stressed out all the time over debt and am so grateful I am not in that situations. While I do have mortgage debt, I am not overburdened (bought within my comfort zone) and still have money to save, invest and enjoy life.

Good on you. Being debt free is a huge accomplishment that only a small percentage of the population enjoys. It's the kind of a milestone that needs to be celebrated. Even better is your awareness of how great it feels to be debt free.

Great job on it. Now you can start doing some serious saving, it would allow you to get a better deal when it comes to the mortgage, not to mention not having to worry about what tomorrow might bring.
