  • Ga$ and Grocerie$ today

I had to fill my tank today. That $ucked up $45.00.

Then we went to the $upermarket to pick up some basics, not even a full shopping trip. Passover is ending and we needed bread, milk, cheese, some stuff for lunches, etc. That was $87.00.

Not that it saved us any money, but we did bring a canvas tote and some plastic grocery bags to the store, so at least we helped the environment a bit.

I usually fill up my truck around 1/4 of a tank. Took about $45 aswell yesterday at $3.58 a gallon.

I've been trying to cut back on the groceries, and being single I have not been hit in the pocket book there yet. However the bottled coke I got at the station was $1.30, where as they use to be $1.15 a year ago.

I do remember getting annoyed at the price of the quart of milk I bought a month ago. Eggs were about $3.20 for a dozen aswell.

Super jumped to $3.74 in RI. If my gas light goes on it is over $80 to fill my car. I just can't bring myself to do it.

I also went grocery shopping today and noticed that the commissary has raised some of their prices. I feel a little better knowing I paid $2.57 for a gallon of milk and $2.09 for 18 eggs.

Eggs were actually down to $1.99 today which is an improvement. Milk never got costly at Wegman's. I think they price it as a loss leader. We've been paying $2.95/gallon for months.

My wife was excited b/cone of the grocer store chains was doing a deal where yiu transferred a prescription to their pharmacy and you got $1 off per galon of gas at their gas station. She also had something else where she got another 20 cents off. She saved $18 when she filled up with 15 gallons.

Even up here in here in WI, America's Dairyland, we're still paying $3.25 at Walmart for a gallon milk.

3.59 gallon for gas, though with oil recent spike i'm sure it's going to be going up. =(

I try to buy my milk at Walgreen's when it is on sale for 3.59 because it is about $4 here. I also see what other sales they have when I go and I check out products with ECBs at CVS. I am with 2 miles of 4 grocery stores so I shop their loss leaders usually instead of doing a major shop at one store. Gas here is hovering around 3.55.

I just paid $2.89 for skim milk at SuperTarget. The highest amount I've paid for fuel is $3.44/gal. Groceries are the hardest part for me to manage. The prices do seem like they have gone up significantly.

                      $3.56 for gas

$3.99 HALF gallon organic milk (the only stuff DH will drink)

$1.99 dozen farm raised eggs (not organic but also not commercially grown)

Interestingly I've noticed that the price of the commercially grown eggs has risen to the price of the farm raised eggs. The farm raised eggs come from a place about 30 miles from here and are sold in the stores.

SuperTarget has had very reasonable prices on milk.

I was just complaining yest to my kids about grocery shopping. I spent $216.00 @ BJ's and the spent another $113.00 @ Stop & Shop. It was harder keeping food on hand this week with the kids being home from school. They seem to graze when they are home. This summer should be interesting my food bill will sky rocket.

I fill my tank up full every single time I go to the pump. I just swipe the credit card and pump till it stops. Why would I want to put in $30 of gas and not fill my tank completely? Thats just more times to the gas station. Its a waste of time.

Even if gas goes up by a $1, it's not the end of the world. My tank holds 15 gallons, I fill up once a week.

                            15 * 4 * $1 = $60/extra per month

It's only $60 more bucks a month. So food and everything else goes up, add an additional $60 - $100. So maybe you're paying $160 more per month than last year.

I know everyone here understands that there is absolutely nothing you can do to lower gas, milk, food, etc prices. We will simply have to deal with it. Either find a way to cut costs or find a way to generate extra income. Although, if someone here wants to invent an alternative fuel at a resonable price that we can afford, feel free.

Talk about beating a dead horse.

It is true that we can't actually lower the prices, but for food we can certainly be more careful where we shop, pay attention to sales, use coupons, switch to less costly brands, and eliminate waste. As for gas, we can eliminate unnecessary driving, keep our cars well maintained, check the tire air pressure, avoid quick starts and speeding to maximize efficiency.
