I didn't realize this was possible

I called my cable company today to ask if my monthly bill could be decreased. We were thinking of going with a cheaper company, but I thought i would ask my established cable company for a rate decrease first. To my surprise they agreed to lower my monthly payment by $10. Inspired, I called my cell phone company (verizon) and told them we were thinking of switching to a different cell phone company to get a better deal. They said they didn't want to lose our buisness and would lower our monthly fee by $10! I had no idea that it was that easy to get a price reduction. I should have done this years ago.

Yep... I get a $15 credit on my phone bill each month for my DSL service (and have for 4 yrs) because I told them I was considering switching to cable modem. So they matched the then going rate for cable internet access.

As the old saying goes, "It pays to shop around."... literally... even after the fact.
