  • Where have you traveled abroad?

Where have you traveled abroad? Is this a financial priority for you?

    I've been to:
    Costa Rica
    England
    Ireland
France (Alcase-Lorraine wine country, Paris and the south of france)
    Monaco
    Switzerland
    Germany
    Austria
    Hungary (a night in Budapest)
    Passed thru Belgium, Milan...
Canada (incuding British Colombia, Yukon, Nova Scotia, Laurentian Mts (NW of Montreal), Canadian Rockies
Mexico (a day of shopping in Tijuana)
I'll list Alaska here, too, as it almost is like a foreign country
US Virgin Islands (St. Thomas & St. John)

I did all my travel in my 30s with 2 different boyfriends. Things just seemed to come together. I havent' been anywhere interesting in a very long time and i would really like to go to: Italy, Edinborough and Quebec City.

    Big travel freak here.

    I've been to:

    China
    South Africa
    Mozambique
    Tunisia
    UK
    France
    Spain
    Portugal
    Italy
    Greece
    The Netherlands
    Belgium
    Luxembourg
    Monaco
    Mexico
    Jamaica
    Cuba
Alot of spots in the US (in the North East and California)
Alot of spots in Canada (my home country).

I'm 29. This was all done in my 20s. I haven't travelled (except for work) in the last 2 years. I've always had an incredible hunger for foreign travel and foreign cultures and so has my girlfriend. We have however put travelling on the backburner for a while as we look to buy a house and start a family soon. So priorities change, but up until recently travelling was a major priority for me.

      Interesting list....

i find that p eople who tend to say things like "the us is still the best place in the world to live" are those who havent' traveled anywhere. Cuba is a place i'd like to go.

Havana is quite an interesting city to visit. It's like travelling back in time to the 1950s. 50s cars everywhere, 50s buildings everywhere. The city looks like it was frozen in time with the revolution. Very safe country for tourists -although like most tourist beach destinations, there is a fair number of scams going around. You can rent a scooter and hit the highways (the scooter goes faster than most cars, actually) without worries. Most Canadian and European tourists (I don't think the US lets their citizens travel to Cuba), though, just stay in their beachside resorts. Locals are extremely friendly.

          * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
          * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
          * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

While I watch the travel channel every day, I don't do it IRL. The "getting there" is not enjoyable for me at all. I try to limit time spent in a car/plane to about 4 hours. I've done longer and that's how I know my limit.

That being said: Canada, Mexico, Bahama's, Jamaica, England and France.

US citizens who can prove they have family in Cuba are allowed limited visits to Cuba. I knew lots of US citizens from Miami who went to Cuba frequently to visit relatives.

Been to Italy, Spain, France, Monaco.

Mexico will be my first time this summer.

My dh is not big on travel in a sense, but he has already been all over the world - not that excited by it I guess- or been there done that...

My father just went to Japan this last summer and I really regret not going with him - I think we may plan a trip in the future. I think Asia would be really interesting to see (as unlike anywhere I have ever been) as well as Africa. Egypt in particular.

But for now, no, travel is not a priority financial. We don't really have any travel planned in the near future. But we have a few things we want to hit down the road. Financially we have too many other prioities I guess. I think if we were childless we would travel a lot more. We also find a lot of beauty in the US. IT's not the same as going abroad, but Alaska, Hawaii, Grand Canyon, east coast, are all interetsing travel destinations in their own right, we have been planning what we want to hit with the kids domestically in the next decade or 2. Leaving more abroad options later when we are older and it is just the 2 of us.

I know my MIL wants to finance a trip to Mexico for us all next summer and I wouldn't be surprised if more exciting destinations later. SO we may luck out. She also wants to take our sons to a destination of their choice, anywhere in the world, when they are 12 or something. I am so jealous - LOL. But excited for them.

Canada, Mexico, The Bahamas, Japan, China, Hong Kong (back when it was a British territory), France, Monaco, The Netherlands, South Africa.

Favorite one? South Africa, hands down.

I would also love to go to Cuba (the colors, the mojitos, and the JAZZ ... what more could you ask for?) but since I'm unwilling to do a back door trip, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that travel restrictions will be lifted before I'm using a walker to get around.

Financial priority? For DH and myself right now, no, not really. Next place I want to visit is domestic (Washington DC).

Ireland and Canada. I am of the opinion that there is no place like home and the USA is vast enough to spend a life time traveling! Besides I like to spend my tourist dollars here in the States!

Same for my gf and I. What an absolutely beautiful and energizing country. If it wasn't for the crime rate, I do think we would have seriously considered moving there. We just loved it.

glad you guys liked South Africa-
crime is an issue for us too but there is soo much else happening- born and bred here and hopefully will allways live here
been to england, france, luxemborg, blegium, austria
foreign travel is terribly expensive for us due to the exchange rate
