Anyone prepare your pet's food?

This is no joke. A neighbor of mine routinely grills out choice Ribeye steaks for his dogs. I have firsthand knowledge of this. It is also rumored that he has a rather odd relationship with them as well. Thankfully I do not have firsthand knowledge of this.

I just pour dry food out of a bag into a bowl. He crushes it. Been making an effort to cut back on people food. He is a bit overweight.

My mom has been raising brussels griffons for about 15 years and they get fed better than I do when I visit. When she was in the hospital getting a knee replacement, I had to cook their food for them to help out. I ate it because it was delicious. It was a mix of ground beef, eggs and rice. Of course, these dogs were show dogs and sold for $2500+ each, so maybe that's why they ate so good.

sounds like you and your mom are a dog's best friend.

I live in an apartment which doesn't allow pets but I like dogs. If I had a yard I'd get a dog. The dog would get whatever I'm eating but I wouldn't cook something "extra" just for Fido (lol). If I'm eating ramen Fido would get dry food just like BJ. On the other hand my parents just like Corn's mom cooks an extra meal for Fido. Fido is their baby and won't get anything less (ha-ha). And I know someone who will cook something new for Fido daily such as boiled chicken with peas & carrots or chopped steak with beans & rice.

Our dog gets dry food, canned food once or twice a week for variety, a daily dental chew, and the occasional dog biscuit. She sometimes gets people food (salmon skin, a little chicken liver, baby carrots, cheese, peanut butter frozen in a Kong). She's a bit spoiled; this time around we are more like "dog grandparents" than "dog parents." On her own, she scrounges worms and bugs ... yum, yum. Her weight is perfect (we walk her twice a day and cut back the dry food when she's getting a people-food snack).

Our last dog had recurring digestive issues, so I often prepared boiled hamburger with rice for him, more frequently near the end of his life.
